Wubbanub

I'm stinking at this blogging thing...I blame it on Big Mac and this crazy idea I have of doing work at home for comp time.

At any rate, I love the little booger...and an a pushover for random baby gizmos.

Enter the Wubbanub.
Basically, it's a pacifier with a tiny stuffed animal sewn to it.  I picked the silly duck, but there were lots of options, including a Clifford-like dog.  No tiger, otherwise I probably would have gotten it for David's sake.

It's cute, but it's marketed as being easier for babies to hold onto and keep in their mouths.  As you can tell from the picture, it's somewhat true.

I'm still a sucker.

Big Week

Big Mac had a big week last week.

First, he met his Aunt Lindy.
Do you say "Ooont" or "Ant?"
Lindy wants to be called Ooonty Lindy and I say she's Ant Lindy.
I guess it doesn't really matter, but I'll probably correct Mac if he ever uses the fancy pronunciation.

Mac also got to meet his some of his Great-Grandparents.
My grandma and grandpa drove into St. Louis for the day and drove out.

Because I thought this drive was a BIG DEAL, we dressed Maclin up all fancy.
This outfit was originally supposed to be what he would wear for Lindy's wedding; however, it is NOT going to fit.
The top button of the shirt already won't close...so the little tie didn't get put on.
I'm a little sad, but excited about shopping for a new outfit.

On Saturday, Maclin celebrated his one-month birthday.
 So stinking cute.

That night, we went to a surprise party for my dear friend, Henselface.
It was an 80's theme, and Mac went for it.

Ok, he actually slept the entire time while I put glasses on him.

Like I said, he's a trooper.

At his one-month check up, Maclin weighed in at 11lbs 15.4 oz.  So close to 12 pounds!  He also measured 22.5 inches.  The doctor says he's measuring around the 95th percentile in both and is perfectly healthy.

I was happy and so was Mac...until the shot.  Yikes!

Mac can focus!

I've been slacking on blogging lately, mostly because it's hard to type with one hand while holding the little guy.

But Big Mac's doing well. He's exactly 1 month old today and growing like a champ. He's actually started to focus on things, as evidenced by his fierce determination in this video.

How cute is he?

First Bath

Last night, we attempted our first "real" bath since the umbilical cord has fallen off.

As you can see, Mac was significantly less excited about the bath than I was.
We calmed down quite a bit after he realized that it wasn't all cold and terrible.
I give credit to this magic towel/cloth thing that Tara got him.
Yeah, it's a glorified wash cloth, but it's designed to fit under his neck, over his showers, and pretty much keep all the vital parts covered.

He immediately calmed down once we placed this on him...it's like magic.

It also prevented pee accidents from hitting me in the face :)

Photo Shoot

David decided that he needed a photo for his office...

and this is what he created.

I'm not sure if I'm proud or appalled.

Outings

I've been trying to take an outing every day to avoid going crazy.

Yesterday, we went to Sam's club, where the cashier guessed that Maclin was 3 months old.
She seemed both shocked and horrified that he was 2 weeks and 1 day.

For our daily outing today, Mac and I went to a "tiny socialites" gathering at Cotton Babies.

It was fun... I got to talk with some other moms about boobs and sleep.

AND, they let me use their scale to weigh the big boy again...
He clocked in at 11 pounds, 9 ounces.

Of course, he was fully clothed and had just eaten.
Still, though... that's am impressive gain!

In other news, Big Mac's umbilical cord fell off the other day, so we've transitioned to cloth diapers.
Styling!

Bebe Pool Winner!

Baby Mac was born over two weeks ago, and I'm just getting around to announcing the winner of his birth pool...

and it was....

Jessica!

I'm not really sure how the birth pool calculates winners, but Jess had the lowest number of "points" at 9.191.  Woo-hoo!

She was followed by Rochelle with 11.068 points and Erin with 12.255 points.

Congrats to all the winners :)  I think at some point I promised a prize...but, seeing as Jess has already brought me dinner, it seems kind of silly to make her a cake.  I'll think of something soon...and it will hopefully be something good.

Of course, thinking hasn't exactly been my forte as of late.  Something about "mommy brain."

2 weeks!

Today is Big Mac's 2 week birthday!
Hurrah!

We had a good night of sleep last night, only waking up at 2am, 4am, and 7:30...which I'm grateful for.
Thank you, Maclin!
He stayed awake for most of the morning, but somehow, I managed to put on makeup for the first time since I left the hospital.

It was a miracle.

Because I felt presentable (it had been a while), we went to Clayton and met David for lunch.

Mac slept the whole meal, but woke up a bit for the family photo shoot.
 Awww.
We match :)

Big Mac Day 12

Today is David's first day at work...which is awesome for him.
For me, it means that it's the first day that Big Mac and I are home alone.

It's going ok, so far.  He's spent some time in the swing and even hung out in the crib while I showered.
Since Big Mac's doing well, I'm starting to worry that Maggie's depressed.
Yeah, I know she always looks like this, but I need to worry about something, right?

In other news, Big Mac visited a new friend in the hospital yesterday.

Niamh (Neve) was born Saturday night and weighed 6 lb 8 oz.

Big Mac dwarfs that precious little girl.
Seriously, the kid's huge.  He's only 10 days older than Niamh.
