Nursing Bra

I bought a nursing bra today... and it was way more difficult than I had expected.

Stores that I had coupons/discounts to don't carry nursing bras...Kohl's and Penney's were a no-go.  So I decided to suck it up and go to Motherhood Maternity.  The salesclerk was trying REALLY hard to be helpful, but you could totally tell that she had no idea what she was talking about.  She recommended I start out with at least 3-6 bras, even though I told her that I wanted to get just one for now and wait until The Cactus arrived before I bought more in case things change in the knocker area.

She agreed, saying that one of her friends had told her that too.  "Actually, my friend is majoring in that...you know, breast feeding."

What?  It's possible to major in breast feeding???  I should have asked more questions, but I was trying so hard not to laugh at this sweet, uninformed girl.

As I was checking out, she also gave me a pamphlet on donating cord blood, "Because, you know, it benefits science."

Thank God for that girl...it really took my mind off the SIZE of bra I was buying.  Because that was not cute or adorable.

  1. Haha I don't think people "major" in breastfeeding. Although, I do in fact have a friend who is getting certified as a lactation consultant, maybe that is what she considered "majoring in breastfeeeding" lol.

  2. Nursing bras are tough, until you find ones you like. I bought a Medela one from the hospital. Whoever thought putting underwires in a nursing bra was a good idea should be shot! I had 4 from Motherhood. They were glorified sports bras and worked out well. I wore them 24-7 for close to 6 months! Make sure you get something comfy to wear to bed at night. Don't stress about the size, I was in a 34-D when I delivered, and I hate to say it, but they did get bigger before they got smaller, and now non-existent! Good luck and email me if you need help, with anything!
